Plate made in Waly earthenware representing the giraffe Zarafa circa 1830
Plate made of earthenware of hightfiring  aboard shortcircuited in polychrome decor on the basin of a giraffe on a green hummock among of big herbes. We like to point the curiosity of the treatment of the dress of this giraffe on the Waly eathenware. The wing is adorned with two blue nets and with a black trait. This ceramic is a memory of the giraffe named Zarafa wich was given to The King of France Charles X in 1826 by the Pasha of Egypt Mehemet Ali. This giraffe has got wild crowds during its journey of 41 days between Marseilles and Paris, where it arrived on July 9th 1827, to remain 18 years up to its death. There was seated with straw and she is in the museum of natural history of Rochelle now. This plate was made of earthenware by Waly circa on 1830
